Upcoming Events: Business and Environment Conference

Knesset

We’ve just learned that a national conference on business and the environment will take place in Kfar Maccabiah in Ramat Gan on January 21 – 22, 2008. Organized by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the conference is described as “a meeting ground between business and the environment and creating mutual integration and growth, both economically and environmentally.” The conference will bring policy makers and companies together to discuss issues such as green technology, environmental risks, green building and consumption, and so on. Speakers will include Environmental Protection Minister Gideon Ezra, MK Dr. Dov Khenin, and Ambassador Ramiro Cibrian-Uzal, head of the European Union delegation of the European Commission to the State of Israel. We’d say that while a conference like this is probably not going to implement landmark changes, we see this attention to environmental issues by government officials and companies–the people with the most power to make changes–as a good sign. We can think of many, many issues that need to be addressed, and soon.Source: Israel Ministry of Environmental Protection
