If you’ve ever made yourself a tuna fish sandwich in Israel, you may have had some green guilt when the time came to toss out the can. Until now, the only items that are widely recycled in Israel have been paper and plastic bottles (with recycling of electronics and batteries available in very few locations). The public collection and recycling of a variety of other disposable packaging, such as metal and aluminum packaging, has not been available. Koala Recycling Solutions is a company devoted to offering metal packaging recycling solutions to the greater public, and reusing a larger portion of our metal resources. The company accompanies all steps of the process of metal recycling, from installing collection points for used metal packages, to educational programming in collaboration with the local authorities, and bringing the collected metals to a recycling factory.
The company works with a variety of public institutions, including local authorities, municipalities, large kitchens, factories, and even schools. But Koala still needs your help to urge local authorities to order metal recycling collection points: if you don’t see one in your neighborhood, you may want to call the relevant contact person for your area listed on Koala’s website.
So what can be recycled? Almost any type of household metal, including any product including at least 50% metal such as:
- Silverware
- Irons
- Padlocks
- Chains
- Bottlecaps
- Empty spray cans
- Aluminum foil and tins (without traces of food)
- Aluminum cans
- Metal food packaging
