Make your own almond flour at home

keto diet israel

Looking to go off grains, but don’t want to forego your beloved baked goods? Almond flour is enjoying a surge in popularity, thanks in part to low-carbohydrate diet trends. Naturally gluten-free, almond flour is the perfect alternative for those looking to enjoy a satiating and satisfying snack. But commercially-produced nut flour isn’t cheap – unless you make it yourself. Learn how with Green Prophet’s super easy one ingredient recipe.

A quarter cup of almond flour contains 12 grams of fat, 5 grams of protein, and just 2 grams of net carbs, making it one of the best alternatives carb-laden wheat flour.

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes

INGREDIENT: 1½ cups of raw almonds (preferrable, organic and fair-trade)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Place raw almonds, ¼ cup at a time, in a food processor. Pulse on low speed.
  • Once you reach a flour-like consistency, add an additional ¼ cup of almonds.
  • Repeat until you have pulsed all almonds. Remove flour from processor, return any nut chunks to the processor for additional pulsing.
  • Store almond flour in a lidded glass jar or reusable container in the refrigerator. Properly stored flour has a shelf life of 6 months. Flour can also be frozen for later use.
