Heads up! A look at Iran’s fantastical ceilings (PHOTOS)

Instagram photographer “m1rasoulifard” has been creating a visual catalog of Iranian architecture, shooting the interiors of mosques, such as Hazrat-Masoumeh in Qom (above), and cultural centers, like the Chaharbagh School in Isfahan.  His images capture intricately detailed interiors rich in texture and kaleidoscopic colors. Tuck into this visual feast of Iran’s splendiferous ceilings; scenes lost to one deep in thought, or bowed down in prayer.

Green Prophet reports on the Middle East.  But is Iran part of the Middle East? We take the view that the Middle East is a geographic designation, not a political one. Nor is it characterized by ethnicity, faith, or language. (Is Brazil not part of South America because it’s people don’t speak Spanish?)

But politics, ethnicity, faith, and language barge into most conversations. They are also the main reasons many of us cannot actually visit the Islamic republic.  Thanks to digital platforms such as Instagram, we can check out its beauty from our own zip codes.

  1. See? Why can’t islam be about gorgeous art instead of deception & violence?
Why does it have to condone & worship the most evil parts of humanity instead of following the faiths (Judaism & Christianity) that it claims to supercede in righteousness, but by the former is proven to be completely false in its ulterior motives?
