For four days in November up to fifteen Israeli cleantech companies are to be given VIP access to top decision makers including potential partners, funders and clients in California.
The delegation is being billed as the first of its kind, and will bring the Israeli companies to meet with executives from cleantech leaders including General Electric (GE), Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E), Google, Applied Materials, California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), The Cleantech Group, Israel Cleantech Ventures, US Venture Partners, and Greylock Partners.
While the Israeli companies participating haven’t yet been chosen, the California-Israel Chamber of Commerce (CICC) says they will represent the best of Israel’s offerings in the field. CICC Cleantech Program Chair Eric Weiss said the “companies will represent a broad range of sectors, such as renewables, energy efficiency, pollution control and water. They will also range in size from seed to late stage.” Israeli companies have until September 17th to apply via the CICC website.
Last year California reportedly had 109 of the US’s 264 major cleantech deals, while $6 billion were invested in Israel’s cleantech industry in 2007.
We at Green Prophet are excited to see what will come out of the trip, and we aren’t alone. Hal LaFlash, PG&E’s Director of Emerging Clean Technology Policy said “we are looking for the best new ideas to help us continue to generate clean energy for our customers. We recognize that innovations come from around the world, and Israel has proven time and time again, to be a great resource for what comes next.”
Green Prophet thinks he won’t be disappointed as Israel boasts some of the world’s top solar energy firms, which we’ve conveniently profiled in this quick guide to Israeli solar energy companies.
