Gore Says Oil Shale is “Utter Insanity” (VIDEO)

As a quick follow-up to the new oil shale pilot about to be conducted in Israel, here is a video of Al Gore saying how oil shale exploration is “insanity.” From the 2008 video, speaking about oil shale in America, Gore says: “It would vastly multiply the amount of CO2 from every gallon of gasoline. This is utter insanity and demonstrates that the wealth and power and influence of the entranced carbon lobby to twist policy and put out illusory impressions about this is overwhelming free debate.”

Green Prophet has sent a letter to David de Rothschild asking him to appeal to his family member Jacob Rothschild to cease activities of shale oil exploration in Israel’s Elah Valley, known as the Provence of Israel (and he replied). Media magnate Rupert Murdoch is an investor in the project (see the list here of more). He owns News Corp (ie Fox News, The Wall Street Journal – and like a few hundred other powerful media outlets around the world).

Jacob Rothschild and Murdoch separately purchased equity positions equivalent to a cumulative 5.5% stake in Genie Oil and Gas Inc., which consists of IDT’s interests in American Shale Oil, LLC (AMSO), and Israel Energy Initiatives, Ltd., (IEI), for a total of $11.0 million dollars.

“Covering and distributing news has been my life’s work,” said Murdoch. “If Genie’s effort to develop shale oil is successful, as I believe it will be, then the news we’ll report in the coming decades will reflect a more prosperous, more democratic, and more secure world.”

Genie Oil and Gas, to be developing oil shale extraction in Israel, has some other well-known business partners (as board members). Past American VP Dick Cheney for one. Read more about Genie here through the company press release.
