Again, thinking about this... yeah Macy's can only start blacklisting companies and that might not be right, just like uneducated people blacklist buying products from Israel to oppose Palestinian suffering. Every issue is complicated but to get to its core and repair from there is a much more positive way to create or re-create the world than flat out blacklisting, oftentimes just the product of the media.

You should be conflicted. But there is a way to help companies do it better and that's what we are trying to build. An alliance so that mining companies use only 100% renewables with infrastructure that can be later handed over to and managed by the local people. Governments, aid orgs and banks can provide the loans, which can be a very good investment if feed in tariffs are guaranteed.

I am very conflicted on this issue. I totally agree with the need to clean up gold mining. It sounds a lot like "fracking" the way they extract it! But Macy's is not the only company to sell gold. Sam's Club, Penney's, a thousand brick and mortat jewelry stores, and even more online sellers like eBAY stores. So why put Macy's out of business and transfer their market share to the next seller? I was taken to a website called Earthworks to send a letter to the CEO of Macy's but I just could not do it. It is neither logical nor realistic to expect someone who is not the leader in any way of gold sales to champion a cause that will kill their sales.

Good article on the topic, though. Thank you.
