Dubai’s Renewable Energy Conference To Boost Middle East Green Energy Investment

Mena Renewable Energy conference, renewable energy Middle East and North AfricaWith more than $20 billion worth of renewable energy projects currently being developed in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), the upcoming Mena Renewable Energy conference in Dubai will look at boosting investment in this sector.

The Mena Renewable Energy conference, which will take place between the 17 and 19th of September in Dubai, will be an important stepping stone for the development of renewable energy in the Middle East North Africa  (MENA) region.

With the largest oil and gas reserves in the world, the MENA region may appear to be an unlikely advocate for renewable energy. However, a region-wide recognition is emerging that renewable energy should be the next frontier. In fact, the MENA boast of excellent solar and wind conditions across much of the region. Furthermore an increasingly tight oil market, the Arab Spring, failure to meet power surges and the resulting increases in power outages and efforts to meet regional climate change mitigation targets is making renewable energy an attractive option.

Green Prophet has already covered a number of interesting renewable energy projects which are currently being planned, developed or in execution stage around the region including Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Jordan and UAE.

The most recent monster is UAE’s plan to develop the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (a photovoltaic solar project in Dubai), which will become the largest solar power park eclipsing all other combined solar projects in the UAE and will require an approximate investment of US$ 3.5bn.

Organizers of the upcoming Mena Renewable Energy conference estimate that more than $20 billion worth of renewable energy projects are currently being developed in the MENA.

Consequently, this conference will be central for the advancement of this sector by providing the latest up-to-date information and discussions on governmental strategies, regional trends, innovation and technologies.

Linda's love for nature started when at the age of eight she discovered, with her dog, a magical river in the valley of a mountainous region in Lebanon. For four years Linda and her dog explored along the river, until one day she saw construction scrapers pushing rock boulders down the valley to make way for new construction sites. The rubble came crashing into the river destroying her little paradise, and her pathetic reaction was to shout at the mechanic monsters. Of course that was not enough to stop the destructive processes. As she continued to observe severe environmental degradation across the different places she lived in the Middle East and Africa, these terrible images remained impressed in her mind. However, environmental issues where not her first love. Her initial academic and career choices veered towards sustainable economic development, with particular interest in savings led microfinance schemes. Nevertheless, through experience, she soon realized a seemingly obvious but undervalued concept. While humans can somewhat defend themselves from the greed of other humans, nature cannot. Also nature, the environment, is the main “system” that humans depend on, not economics. These conclusions changed her path and she is now studying a Masters in...

Good morning, allows Me to recall its attention,
as knowing that in the Arabic countries from the Sheikh Height Sheikh Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi
there is a strong interest for the innovation, especially in the sector of the renewable energies.
Having me a world patent that the whole technology of the solar panels outclasses, as 90% smaller
and more functional, I would like to make to know it to the Sheikh, or to person
party to become my partner for the world development.
    Thanks of the polite answer.
