  1. Alethea says:

You have raised two important topics that should be part of our community discussions about the kind of life we want to live, and the kind of world we want to leave our children.

The first is buying clothing made from organically grown materials. Much of the world now uses intensive, industrial agriculture, which strips the land of its natural ecosystem function, thereby requiring ever greater use of chemicals, pesticides and herbicides which further destroy the productivity and richness of the land. We can not afford to deplete the land we have. We must encourage methods of farming and production that are sustainable for the long-term, or we will wake up one day unable to meet our basic needs.

Second, we must support production that is socially just in its operation. This is not only a moral imperative, but integrally linked to the survival of our environment and our quality of life as part of the environment in which we exist.

We have an opportunity to make choices every day that support or undermine the kind of life we want now, and for our children’s children.

Because it is all about karma. Fair trade, fair labour practices, respecting the environment, all of these are the foundation for a stable world, one that can keep on giving for as long as our imagination can fathom!

  3. Sara says:

Buying organic clothing made in accordance with fair-trade principles is important because… It’s the environment that we exist in and every small step counts. Because exploiting unfair labor standards for your own benefit is immoral. Because if you treat others in a loving way there will be a more loving world. <3 <3
