Love the dress! but let me enlighten you on cotton-even organic cotton. Cotton is a crop that depletes the soil. It is not the best choice if you are truly ecological in your
quest for change. Hemp is much better! It grows fast,looks like linen.

Her company was sabotaged, she is no longer growing..but she was growing a cotton that didn’t need all the bleaching/flame retardant added to the material

Eco-fashion through fair trade practices is another platform to be a part of a bigger community and give back to those who have less and transform our Earth into a healthy and sustainable one. Buying organic clothing made in accordance with fair-trade principles is really important in my opinion because it lets the people who work hard in producing clothes (the workers and farmers) get their rightful wages and be able to live a decent comfortable life. And since each one of us should act responsibly towards our mother earth and try to reduce the waste as much as possible then organic clothes should be a first choice.
Buying organic clothing made in accordance with fair-trade principles is really important because we should make sure that the story behind a beautiful dress is equally beautiful. Organic clothing means better income of farmers and hence better lives of their families.
Buying organic supports producers who are doing their best to work with the earth and with its people, for sustainability and good health, both human and of the earth. There is such a range of organic produce and goods that it’s impossible to produce it all myself, but I can support other organic producers by buying their goods that I can’t produce myself.

Braungart, a chemist who promotes Cradle to Cradle thinking and design, talks about the cancerous chemicals in everyday objects. Our skin is the largest permeable organ on our body. What we do to the Earth, we do to ourselves, and that is a scary thought!
After watching this talk, I started to look at my wardrobe differently. I have mostly natural fibers, but few organic pieces. Many of my clothes I have had for many years, and they have held up well, but need replacement. So I started looking online to see what types of fibers have the least chemicals. Surprisingly to me, bamboo is heavily processed with chemicals to convert it to modal, a rayon. All rayons are chemically processed – so those are out. Silks, are also heavily processed with chemicals. Same for linen made from flax. In the end, organic cotton was by far the best for humanity and the planet.
I think MuMu’s dress designs are beautiful and timeless.
Organic cotton and fair-trade – Fantastic. I’d rather make it myself than enslave anyone.
Finally, clothing for the body, mind, and spirit to feel great in.

I believe that to be sustainable one has to practice it all levels. Recycling what can be recycled from our kitchen, recycling water and using water wisely, and wearing organic. It is all part of a cycle that contributes to our truth of believing in sustainability. We must practice what we preach and also wear it!
Why is it important to buy organic clothing made in accordance with Fair Trade Principles? I’m a farmer’s daughter, so the principles of Fair Trade really touch my heart. And cotton is something that is really close to my heart, granted that as a child I was raised on a cotton farm. Fair Trade has a major ethical element and tackles unique social problems in that the aims are to improve people’s lives while also saving the environment. This is empowering in that it helps major problems of poverty, fairer trading conditions, and simply gives people more control over their own lives. What a wonderful way to promote justice and to build a sustainable future…
So why is it important to buy organic clothing that caters to these principles? Simply because it takes individual efforts to build a more just and environmentally friendly [glocal /global] community. We can live healthier, and play a role in protecting our planet. Pretty cool.
If, in a country such as contemporary Greece that struggles with severe economic difficulty, ecologically sustainable design and production are profitable, then developing countries have a truly feasible role model for commerce. Fair trade standards insure that labor from those developing countries is not exploited and oppressed, thereby establishing socially sustainable and locally beneficial institutions that, when entrenched, prevent war, mass migration, and deadly epidemics. What is good for the Earth and her poorest people, is ultimately good for everyone, including the most privileged. For…
When all the water has been polluted, is no longer potable, and the fish are dead or full of toxins; …
When all the soil has been polluted, and the plants that manage to sprout there are infused with poisons that go all the way up the food chain; …
When all the air has been polluted, no longer protects us from UV rays, and brings cruel diseases to every lung that inhales it; …
Only then will you understand that you can not drink, eat, or breathe your money.
Choosing to buy organic in accordance with fair trade practices that are followed benefits all: producers, end users and environment in between further more. Plus if you come across organic clothing that’s fashionable why not!
We always take from our planet all the best it has to offer: water, fruits, air from the trees, house built from mud. This taking and taking has a painful price which is already out there with global Warming, animals species that are gone for good, pollution and more. Finally we have a chance to give something back to mother nature – buying organic. It is such a small gesture but with a huge impact. Not only mother nature will smile back to us with time but also the hard working good people which work in that industry preferring nature over greed can keep up the good work. And last but not least the future of our children and their children can be set by our behavior today. Buying organic, such a small effort for such a big gain. 🙂

The planet is not ours to do as we please with; we are here as guests and when you are a guest you respect your host and try to be as little of a nuisance as is possible. Organic cotton may be expensive but by supporting the industry it gives a push to farmers, designers and buyers everywhere to aim for organic as a global standard.
