Green is glamorous, according to Beirut’s eco fashion boutique.
People need to eat and people need to dress every day, so food and fashion are two of the ways that people can make a daily difference in protecting the environment. Organic food products have crept into mainstream supermarkets, but organic and eco-friendly fashion is a little harder to track down. Beirut already has a specialty shop for organic foods, A New Earth, and now practically next door is an eco fashion boutique called “Green and Glam”. It just got easier to go green in Beirut.
Opened just over six months ago, Green and Glam aims to reduce our negative environmental impact without compromising style.
The shop describes itself as “an eco fashion boutique that selects for you the most stylish, ethical, and eco-friendly brands. Clothes, accessories, cosmetics and design are gathered at 65 Zahret el Ehsan Street in Achrafieh to offer an eco alternative to the Lebanese multibrands.”
“Well-known designers and new talents have been chosen for their contemporary vision of esthetic, evolving in a glamorous and pure ambiance. The selection has been picked according to strict criteria: organic, natural and/or ethical manufacture.”
Some of the labels currently sold at Green and Glam include Valentine Gauthier, Edun, Les fees de Bengale, Kami Organic, LEAF, Featherstone & Co., Occidente, MyBiotiful Bag and more.
It unfortunately does not feature products made my local Lebanese designers (it would be great if they could get a hold of some of Ziad Ghanem’s recycled couture), but the shop’s current goal is to make eco fashion appealing. Hopefully it will bring locally designed and manufactured garments in the future.
