The A380 was flying 2 years before the Dreamliner, and still has a lower seat/mile cost.
Airbus were first with a fuel efficient single aisle aircraft – the A320neo – which has taken about 1500 orders while Boeing dithered with the 737 replacement.
The A350 will be in service within 2 years and promises to be more efficient than the Dreamliner.
