There are many libraries on wheels in Israel (at least there are signs promoting them here and there).

Wonderful to see this idea emerge in Israel. As you’ll notice on http://www.littlefreelibrary.org and Daily Good http://www.dailygood.org/view.php?qid=4707 there is a worldwide movement in this direction. We welcome colleagues–readers, neighborhoods, riders, book fans, community builders, etc.–to join in this effort to promote reading for children, literacy for adults and libraries around the world.

I think a better idea would be to make the system more efficient so people don’t have time to read a novel while waiting for the bus and can read one on their leisure time when they choose.
