According to my personal observation during my PhD studies in Canada: migratory birds like Canadian Geese and ducks coming back from Florida/ other wintering refuge sites, dropping fast from the sky and later die and then after some careful investigation we got to the answer that: the cause of their dropping from sky and death was the sequestered pesticides entering the blood stream after long flights, sometimes more than 1000 Km. However some groups of these beautiful birds in their long flights after getting hungry come down and pick some remains of corn left behind after harvest in huge croplands in fall and winter. These corn fields were much polluted with different dangerous pesticides like Carbofuran and some bioaccumulating organochlorins. Since the process of bioaccumulation and also fat body contents are more usual in Sea mammals so this processes of sequestration and later intoxication due to high activities may be is more related and happening even more in the marine ecosystems than birds.
