Shai Agassi unveils his very thorough recharging plan for Better Place EVs.
No stranger to Green Prophet, we’ve been tracking Shai Agassi and Better Place for as long as we can remember. So it’s pretty exciting to report the company recently announced its recharging plan. In addition to thousands of recharging stations and 40 battery replacement stations, the company has also unveiled its EV logistics center.
Globes reports that the first nine battery replacement stations in advanced construction stages are located in Hadera, Modi’in, Mahanayim in the Upper Galilee, Mitzpeh Ramon in the Negev, Beersheva, Yavne, Beit She’an, and Bilu Junction.
Half of the thousands of other recharging points at 400 parking lots are also in the final stages of installation.
To further smooth EV integration into Israeli society, Better Place has signed cooperation agreements with 27 different municipalities. And 350 companies, whose combined fleet totals 70,000 vehicles, have pledged to switch to EVs.
The company’s electric car logistics center will house the command and control system for managing the recharging network and customer support. It will also provide support for the user interface installed in each car. Developed by Better Place and Continental Corporation AG, this computer system includes a navigation system that allows users to locate battery recharging and replacement stations.
Better Place has been testing the systems in Israels for the last several months, with more than 25 vehicles plying the roads for up to 20 hours a day.
