GreenRoad’s founder and Chief of Safety Hod Fleishman is leaving the company. Is Google his next destination?
Fresh off making the “Global Cleantech 100″ Guardian List, Israel’s GreenRoad announced this week that First Transit, the operator of San Diego’s North County Transit District (NCTD), has implemented GreenRoad’s GreenRoad 360™ solution in its fleet of buses.
GreenRoad 360™, a software solution, combines real-time automated driver coaching with Web-based applications that continuously rate driving skills and behavior with the goal of creating more fuel-efficient and safer drivers.
GreenRoad’s solution gives drivers and fleet managers real-time feedback and analysis of drivers’ abilities and driving patterns. The system tells drivers how to improve fuel consumption, so that managers can begin to see improvements almost immediately.
The result is a 50% or greater reduction in accidents with its solution on board and more efficient fuel-usage that is more cost-efficient for companies.
While the company’s solution reduces the risk of accidents, Google revealed this week that it is working on its own solution to prevent accidents altogether. The company has been testing self-driving cars on the streets and highways of Northern California with the ultimate goal of this technology helping to prevent traffic accidents, free up people’s time and reduce carbon emissions by fundamentally changing car use.
Also earlier this week GreenRoad founder and Chief of Safety Hod Fleishman announced that he is leaving GreenRoad. Although he hasn’t announced what he is doing next, it will be interesting to see if his path crosses with Google.
Investors in GreenRoad include Al Gore and Richard Branson’s Virgin Green Ventures.
Electric car company Better Place and 6 other Israeli companies were also included in the “Global Cleantech 100″ Guardian List.
