The “WATEC 2009” Exhibition, along with an international conference featuring a problem-solving forum for water, energy, and environmental technology issues, will be held in Israel on November 17-19, 2009. Time to book your hotels, and airplane if you are planning on coming from abroad.
According to Oded Distel, director of the National Water Technology Program at the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, approximately half of Israel’s water industry leaders are expected to present a sales growth in 2009 despite the global crisis.
Although Mr. Distel believes that the global decline in demand will affect the Israeli water industry – just as it does other aspects of the economy – there is an opposite and strong trend pointing toward an increased demand for solutions to increasing water production and optimizing its use, which will stabilize the current situation and ultimately generate growth in certain companies.
The keynote event this year in the Israeli water industry will be “WATEC 2009”, the Water Technologies & Environmental Control Exhibition to be held in November at the Israel Trade Fairs Center.
The event will also feature an international conference on Crisis as the Catalyst for a Sustainable Economy, which will address the challenges of global water and energy crises and economic development while preserving the earth’s resources for the benefit of future generations. Water industry leaders perceive the exhibition as a unique forum for displaying technological innovations to water industry decision-makers worldwide.
In 2008, the scope of Israel’s water industry was estimated at 1.4 billion dollars. Mr. Distel anticipates that approximately half of the industry leaders are expected to increase their sales this year.
These are primarily companies exhibiting inexpensive technologies leading to substantial water-saving solutions, waste minimization and the utilization of drainage water and sewage effluents. The demand for these products is steadily growing despite the global recession because of their energy- saving potential.
The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor’s National Water Technology Program is expected to allocate grants in the amount of 30 to 40 million shekels, which allow for leveraged investments on a much wider scale to promote the Israeli water industry export.
One hundred and fifty delegations of ministers, company managers and businessmen are expected to attend the WATEC 2009 International Exhibition where they will present over 200 exhibits from Israel and abroad.
WATEC 2009 is being organized by the Israel Trade Fairs and Conventions Center and Kenes Exhibitions. The Exhibition is being held under the auspices of: Ministry of Industry, Trade and Labor, The Israel NEWTech (Novel Efficient Water Technologies) national government program, The Ministry of the Environment, The Foreign Ministry, The Ministry of National Infrastructures, The Israel Export Institute, The Kibbutz Industries Association and MATIMOP – the Israeli Industry Center for R&D.
