Greening One Day at a Time

calendarGreening your life is not an easy task. It’s about changing habits, and habits don’t always change easily. What DOES smooth the process along is by taking things slowly, don’t jump in head first, and slowly adding more as time goes on.

Choose one aspect of your life that you would like to improve, environmentally, and work on it. Make a journal for yourself describing your progress. You’ll find that looking back on your progress can be a very rewarding experience and that your successes in this area will translate over to other area of your life.

As far back as he can remember Jack Reichert has been interested in the environment. In the second grade, he rallied all of his classmates to donate one recess a week to cleaning up litter from the schoolyard. That was the same year that a city councilman asked him to help with his campaign because of the letter Jack had written asking him to clean up Boston Harbor. Ever since Jack has followed the development of the international green conscience with anticipation and hope that one day we will treat Mother Earth with the respect she deserves and not turn her into another Giving Tree. 1. Colin Waters says:

One thing living in a relatively close community is I find that walking talks just about the same time or even shorter than trying to drive to where I need to go.

In the time it takes to get to your car, which I is usually parked a block away, to get to the front door is always shorter. I would recommend people to try this in their neighborhood and time themselves. Another positive aspect is seeing or appreciating the things you overlook when you drive past.
