There are lots of ways that you can reuse plastic bags, but I bet most people have never considered putting them in a frame and hanging them up on the wall as one of them.

Luckily, Israeli artist Inbal Limor has used her creative vision to come up with another way to reuse these bags and, in the process, transform them into high art.

Limor, whose friends and family religiously collect plastic bags for her art, uses stitching and heat to fuse several bags together and create a design.  All of her designs are based on the materials being used at the moment, and so no two designs are alike.

Regarding her innovative use of plastic bags as high art, Limor says that “I started making commercial things for use but after a while I came to the conclusion that there is no better place for a plastic bag then up on a wall, as high art.  Why?  Because it is completely taken out of its cycle – to be meant for use.”

Limor creates two-dimensional designs, such as the one pictured above, or sculptures fashioned from reused plastic bags, as seen on the right.

Limor further explains that “fusing bags is my way of recycling.  I believe some fundamental changes should be made in our lives and the way we carry them out in order to help the planet.  This is my way of making a change and trying to spread it all over the world.”
